Each jacket is made one at a time, literally in house with materials sourced by me for inspiring connections and history.
This jacket was created from a circa. 1930 Hungarian grain bag, 1930 quilt top and dead-stock cotton lining. The embroidery on the pockets and back are from my original drawings and tattooed with thread.
I started the salmon drawings during the salmon run -October 2022. I have watched the journey of the salmon for many years with my father and mother and now my children. I am always amazed at the numbers of adult salmon making their way from the ocean to their birth place in the American River…witnessing and honoring the cycle of life. This Chore Jacket is a tribute to the life of Salmon.
